Bright Light City Classic Run 2017
Turn the clocks back to 2012 when I was driving down the promenade at Blackpool with the roof down in my TR7, when suddenly I realised it was the first time i'd driven in the dark with the top dropped. What a different feeling that was, when out of the blue Blackpool Illuminations hit me, with a spectacular show of lasers, and flashing bulbs of electric power emanating like a flash of sheet lightening down the golden mile stretch.
When I got home I immediately posted on the forum to see if anyone was up for a run of the lights. My self and Simon Bryan were chatting for quite some time about the possibilities, when it was realised some would be driving quite some miles. I suggested why not make a day of it. To this day the concept hasn't changed.
Meeting up with new friends and old whizzing down country lanes, stopping off at at village pubs, 60's themed diners even National Parks and classic car museums collecting money for deserving Charities.
Fast forward 5 years and 6 Bright Lights Runs later, 9 TR7/8's a Saab 93 (which is just about go on the Screwball Rally) a classic mini and a big mutha trucker, were still having fun, were still driving some of the best Lancashire roads and were still collecting for charity.
This year we were blessed with glorious sunshine, roofs down from 9:00am till 5:30pm with a bit of topless driving for the ever popular Blackpool Illuminations. We even managed to collect just over £565.00 for Street Life a homeless charity here in the heart of Blackpool.
Adding up the total collected over the last 6 runs comes to just over £2,674.00 for which many of you guys are responsible for.
Without the good will, some fantastic cars and great bunch people it just wouldn't happen.
Heres to next year your all invited......
Bigger Better Brighter.
